AN Edgware school is hosting a marathon event over two days to raise money for Cancer Research.
The Canons Relay for Life starts at 1pm on Saturday, July 4, and teams of runners will do continuous loops of the track until the finish at 9am the following day.
It is taking place at the North London Collegiate School, in Canons Drive, and a committee of the school's pupils led by Jahnavi Emmanuel and Davina Moss, who are in Year 12, have organised the whole event.
Mayor of Harrow Eric Silver is due to preside over the opening ceremony, which will be followed by a lap of honour performed by cancer survivors.
Each team has been raising sponsorship money for months, and will have a stall at the event to continue raising funds.
It is hoped the Relay, which is a combination of separate Harrow and Hillingdon events of past years, will raise thousands of pounds towards cancer treatments.
Former Radio One DJ Tony Blackburn and actress Juliette Stevenson will be among the VIP guests for a Candle of Hope ceremony at 8.30pm to remember those who have died from cancer.
