Northwick Park and Ealing hospitals are asking the public to help choose names for two new surgical robots that start work next week.
London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH), which runs the hospitals, says the technology will allow for more precise surgery, quicker recovery times and better patient outcomes.
The robots are expected to perform 700 surgical procedures a year by 2027 - but they need names for their name badges.
Suggestions should be sent to lnwh-tr.communications@nhs.net with ‘robot naming competition’ in the headline, along with a name for each robot and the relevant hospital. The closing date for entries is May 14.

Trust chief executive Pippa Nightingale said: "We’re looking for some fun ideas and would really like our staff and the local community to get involved.
"We encourage all our staff to wear ‘My name is ….’ badges to present a friendlier public face and that applies to our two newest employees."
The trust hopes the process will avoid the fate of the infamous "Boaty McBoatface" naming competition, in which the public’s winning choice for a £200 million Arctic research vessel was ultimately given to a submersible, rather than the ship itself.
London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust, established in 2014, serves a population of around one million people across Harrow, Brent and Ealing.
The trust operates four main hospitals: Northwick Park, St Mark’s, Ealing, and Central Middlesex. It also provides community healthcare services and is active in research, with more than 5,000 patients taking part in clinical trials last year.
The trust was named a university teaching hospital in December 2017 in recognition of its contribution to clinical education and research.
Northwick Park Hospital is also home to the UK’s top-rated stroke service, and St Mark’s Hospital is internationally recognised for its expertise in colorectal disease.
The public is encouraged to take part in the robot naming competition and help shape the identity of the latest additions to the surgical team.
