A new ‘Asda on the Move’ convenience store has opened up at a petrol station.

The store at the Esso EG Sandy Lodge petrol station in Northwood is among 28 Asda on the Move stores rolling out this year to offer customers essential items as they fuel up.

It comes as part of an Asda collaboration with fuel operator EG Group to open smaller stores on forecourt sites. An Asda on the Move has also just opened at the Esso garage on the A41 in Elstree.

According to Asda, a further 200 sites are planned to open by the end of next year.

The sites will offer a range of up to 2,500 Asda own brand, premium own label ‘Extra Special’ and branded products, from key categories including bakery, fresh, chilled and ambient, along with a more extensive range of fresh produce than is traditionally found in forecourt stores.

Debra Lees, Asda’s Senior Director of Wholesale and Convenience, said: “We want to offer great value Asda products to customers in more convenient locations, including exciting new, exclusive and ‘premium’ ranges.

“Whether they’re picking up essentials, or looking to grab something for dinner, we want to make sure we offer the best possible range of products we know our customers will love.

“The five initial Asda On the Move trial stores have proven that there is a demand for quality, great value products in the heart of local communities, and we’re proud to be bringing this to customers in these areas.”
