A landslip in Greenhithe which caused huge disruption to trains on Thursday has been "dug up" overnight.

The landslip was blocking the train lines between Dartford and Gravesend which completely prevented all trains from running throughout the day.

National Rail Kent and Sussex has since issued an update this morning (Friday) which said the landslip had been "dug out" overnight to get the route open again today.

It added: "Your patience was appreciated on a difficult day".

National Rail thanked passengers on the line on Thursday.

The train operator had said it estimated around "30t" of muck had slid down - blocking the tracks.

The trains were not able to run for around 24 hours -  but are now back up and running as normal.
