There were 61 serious casualties on Essex Roads in the month of September.
Four people died on the roads, including a 17-year-old in Warley and 30-year-old Eni-itan Bajomo on the M11 near Harlow.
Figures released by Essex Police revealed the force made 114 drink driving arrests and 146 drug driving arrests.
A further 50 people were stopped for using their mobile phone while driving and a whopping 450 pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt.
That same month, 325 vehicles were seized from drivers with no insurance.
The Safer Essex Roads Partnership (SERP) is working with police to reduce road casualty numbers, with a target to reduce the number deaths in 2020 by 40 per cent from the 2005-2009 average.
In 2006 there were 1,174 people were killed or seriously injured on roads in Essex. By 2018 this had fallen to 931
