A COASTAL town has been given a flood alert for high tide.

Residents in Climping, near Littlehampton, have been warned that water may flood over the sea front today due to high tides and unsettled weather.

The warning has been given for the high tide, which will happen at 2.28pm this afternoon.

The Argus:

The government's flood warning service said: "For two hours either side of high tide, a very small amount of water could overtop Climping sea front and collect in the car park, and on land and fields near Climping Street.

"Wind strength and wave and tide heights will reduce from Wednesday.

"Please take care if walking along the coast at Climping over high water."
