A TOP politician has called for a now vacant commercial unit branded a “rotting eyesore” by the public to be put to “constructive” use.
Conservative MP for Wycombe, Steve Baker, answered public cries to convert a derelict building on Ford Street, in Wycombe Marsh, into “something productive”.
Mr Baker is in favour of planning reforms.

The site, sealed shut and scrawled in graffiti, is the former premises of Marsh Tackle & Country Sports, and Hawes Plant & Tool Hire.
Historic planning applications stretching back to 2012 include requests for demolition and bids for both commercial and residential use.
Mr Baker tweeted about the neglected property while litter picking with the Wycombe Marsh Community Environment Group, on September 19.
He wrote: “I’m definitely in favour of something productive happening here @BucksCouncil!”
In response, one Twitter user wrote: “It’s shocking how long vacant buildings are left as an empty and rotting eyesore before they are redeveloped into handsome and useful buildings, in areas where there is a severe housing shortage.”

Mr Baker said: “While out litter picking, local residents explained that planning rules have prevented a constructive use for this derelict building.
“We cannot allow dereliction to persist in our great town.
“That’s why I have invited local councillors to propose changes in the law which would enable them to better serve local people.
“I look forward to taking up those reforms.”
Previous planning applications include demolition in favour of five single-storey shop units, and demolition to make way for four apartments and three two-bed terrace houses with parking.
