A man was rushed to hospital and a woman arrested after a reported stabbing on Bromley Road in Downham  yesterday evening (September 19). 

The victim of the stabbing — a 27-year-old man — was rushed to hospital where he remains in a stable condition at present. 

Police are now investigating what happened and said they had arrested a woman (no further details given) in connection to the stabbing, which took place on the Lewisham street sometime before 6.47pm on Saturday evening, when police were called. 

Responding to a request from News Shopper, a spokesperson for the Met Police said: 

"Police were called at 18:47hrs on Saturday, 19 September to Bromley Road in Downham following reports of a man stabbed.

"Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended.

"A 27-year-old man was taken to a south London hospital where he remains in a stable condition; his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"A woman [no further details] was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm." 

The Met added that the woman is now being held at a South London police station, and that officers believe her and the victim are known to each other. 

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service, who treated the victim at the scene, said:

“We were called at 6:47pm yesterday (19 September) to reports of a stabbing on Bromley Road, Downham.

“We dispatched an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, a medic in a car and an advance paramedic practitioner. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance by road.

“We treated a patient on scene and took them to hospital.”
