A man was punched in the face and stabbed by two men who asked him for a cigarette.
Essex Police are investigating the incident on Harlow Town Park at about 5.20pm on Wednesday, August 5.
The victim, suffered a small stab wound to his stomach, but was not seriously injured.
Two men had approached the victim, who is in his 30s, and asked for a cigarette. As he tried to oblige, he was punched to the face and stabbed to his side before his backpack was taken.
The men are both described as being in their late teens.
One is described as white, slim, 5ft 11ins tall with short brown hair, and wearing a dark, navy blue tracksuit.
The other man has been described as ‘mixed race’, around the same height, stocky, and wearing a dark grey tracksuit.
Both men had small bags.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "If you saw anything, have any CCTV or dash cam footage, or have any other information please call us on 101 quoting the crime reference number 42/118662/20 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
