A WANTED man was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences amid dramatic scenes in Birchwood.
The 36-year-old was detained by police on Leacroft Road late on Thursday, May 21.
He had been covertly followed on the roads by Greater Manchester Police officers across the border into Cheshire.
Unmarked police cars boxed in the suspect’s car, with the man from Crewe being wanted in connection with an incident in Trafford in March this year.
He has since been released under investigation, with GMP’s enquiries ongoing.
A force spokesman said: “On May 21, police stopped a car and arrested a man aged 36 on suspicion of possession of a firearm.
“He has been released under investigation.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
A second man who was inside the stopped vehicle was not detained by police.
Cheshire Police officers also assisted with the incident.
