"YOU are the noisiest team of the lot!"

They were the words from TV personality Keith Chegwin April 4, 1990, to 50 excited pupils from Mansbridge School at Swaythling, Southampton.

And Blackfriars Station in London was certainly chaotic as some 200 pupils battled to stuff as many coloured balloons as possible into four carriages of a British Rail train.

Urged on by a cheery Cheggers, Mansbridge School fought valiantly against three other schools from the South-East.

Later the exhausted children gathered on Blackfriars Bridge to watch the fruits of their labours undone as the thousands of balloons were set free over London's rooftops.

Although pipped at the post, they still came home laden with British Rail goodies and a TV set for the school.
