A FAMILY from Bournemouth have joined thousands around the world taking to TikTok during coronavirus isolation.

The family teamed up with 38 members of their extended family and friends from Shropshire, Cheshire and Nottinghamshire to make a video of them passing around toilet roll to each other.

Since the video was uploaded on Thursday March 26, the video has had almost 1,000 views and 100 likes on Facebook.

Emma Tyrer said: “My daughter Lucie came up with the idea as she had seen something like it on Tiktok, we have a family and friends WhatApp group for support, so we asked everyone to get involved.

“It took pretty much a whole evening to do and there were quite a few outtakes but there were a lot of laughs and we had a lot of fun doing it.

“Everyone filmed their bit and sent it in and we pulled it together! Charlotte my niece edited it and Lucie added a bit of music to make it fun.”

Many families, friendship groups and sports teams have also taken part in the toilet roll challenge by posting similar videos on the new social media service.

Emma explained that doing the video not only provided her family with a bit of respite but has also helped to entertain others who may be struggling due to self-isolation.

She added: “It is just a bit of fun, its great especially as though we have got some of the older members of the family to join in. I think people should do some rival ones.

“In these current times, it is about keeping positive and finding ways to keep yourself entertained.

“Every day is Groundhog Day at the moment. If you are able to work from home, then you are able pass the time but if you have kids, you need to keep things light.

“It is scary, but you also have to make sure that everyone remains positive, so if the video brightens someone’s day, then that is perfect.”
