A public meeting on crime trends and policing operations is being postponed following Government guidance on the Coronavirus.

The event was to be chaired by Roger Hirst, the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, at Waltham Abbey Town Hall on Tuesday, March 24.

Senior team members of Essex County Fire & Rescue Service was also scheduled to attend.

Essex Police have said the meeting will be rescheduled.

Anyone who has any concerns they wish to raise with the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner that cannot wait until the meeting they are welcome to email pfcc@essex.police.uk

Essex Police said: “When we are in a position to rearrange the event we will post details on our social media channels @EssexPFCC, on our website and via our newsletter which people can sign up to here."

Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, said: “It is important that we do follow the Government guidance and don’t put people at risk; as well as easing the burden on our emergency services colleagues who were due to attend the meeting.

“If people do have an urgent matter they can get in touch with me. However please be assured that we will rearrange all of our scheduled public engagements that have to be postponed.

“We are also looking at hosting virtual public meetings on social media. If you run a community social media page and would like to register your interest in an online event please do get in touch by email using pfcc@essex.police.uk."
