MEMBERS of a town's cricket club have organised a sponsored walk to raise funds for new equipment.

Connah's Quay Cricket Club has organised a Sponsored Walk for the Junior Section to the Blue Bridge in Queensferry and back via the cycle path.

It is a 5km walk and will take place at 11am on March 28.

Chairman Nick Pratt said: "We will be taking in the docks, the railway bridge and the John Summers Building. We will also be holding a Junior Section signing on day ready for the 2020 season.

"We are trying to encourage as many children to try this fantastic sport as cricket teaches respect, teamwork, discipline, commitment and fun.

"We want to build on the success of England winning the World Cup last year and by raising money for new equipment for the junior section. This will allow the cricket club to replace some of our older equipment and to have more equipment so we can welcome new players to the club without parents having to worry about paying out for helmets, pads, gloves, bat etc.

"We are an inclusive club and welcome all boys and girls to play.

Connah's Quay Cricket Club run four junior teams, U9's, U11's, U13's and U15's as well as the fantastic All Star Programme aimed at 5-8 year olds and this year will also be running the new Dynamos Cricket Programme aimed at players aged 8-11.

"We would also welcome corporate sponsorship if there are any companies out there who would like to help our junior section, we would of course thank you publicly but we would also like you to present the equipment to the children and coaches and this would be shared on our Facebook page and our website."
