Kings Sports closed the gap to West Herts League Premier Division leaders Hemel Hempstead Rovers to one point after an ultimately convincing 8-0 victory over Croxley Community.

For 55 minutes though, the game was close as Kings only led 1-0 at the break and then had to defend strongly for the first 10 minutes of the second half as their opponents had all the possession, trying to get back into the game.

However, a quick break saw Sports double they lead and they slowly began to get on top, scoring at regular intervals with some precise finishing.

Shaun Stevens and Jacob Mwenda each scored a brace, with the other four goals shared between Jack Bamford, Marvis Edmund, Nathan Kelly and Reece Canning.

Langleybury Cricket Club visited neighbours Bovingdon A and returned with a point after a 1-1 draw.

Frankie Bircham scored for Bovingdon, with Jason Nicolaou replying.

Hunton Bridge saw off Division One basement side Oxhey Academy 7-2 to move a little closer to leaders Caddington, who were without a game.

Joe Zazzera, John Sullivan and Conor Moore scored two apiece and an own goal completed the tally for Bridge to move them to within seven points of the summit. Jack Barr and Jay Wilds replied for Oxhey.

Croxley Community Reserves missed an opportunity to also make up ground on the leaders though, as they lost out 6-4 at home to Sun Sports Rovers in a ten-goal thriller.

John Smith (2), Alex Simmonds and an own goal scored for Croxley, but Jack Newman (2), Steve Sutch, Alex Halifax, Glen Cook and Jason Blake were on target for Sun to move them up to fourth spot.

Goals from Mitchell Bagley, Sam Hailey and Ryan Sewell saw Hemel Hempstead Rovers Reserves edge out Chesham United Generals by the odd goal in five. Will Russell and Joshua Babumba responded for the visitors.

Another game to end 3-2 saw Croxley Green slip down to sixth after Brett Whitehead struck a hat-trick to fire Global AFC to victory. Daniel Walsh and Henry Hindley netted for Croxley.

Another player to score three times was James Spavin as Oxhey A got back to winning ways with a 5-2 victory over Evergreen A.

Zak Flesch and Sid Boussouar also scored for the victors, with Aiden Stockwell and Charlie Hardwick on target for their opponents.
