The sixth forms with the best A-level results have been revealed.

We looked at the A-level performances of all schools and colleges in the east London boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Hackney, Havering, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.

When ranked by the percentage of students who achieved AAB grades or higher (in at least two facilitating subjects) in 2018-19, London Academy of Excellence in Stratford came out on top. 58.7 per cent of students achieved the top grades and the average grade was A-.

Facilitating A-level subjects are ones that are commonly needed for entry to leading universities. They are: biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, further mathematics, geography, history, English literature and classical or modern languages.

In second place was Bancrofts School in Woodford Green, Redbridge, where 53.9 of students got the coveted grades.

Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre and Brampton Manor Academy, both in Newham, followed behind.

In fifth place, out of 94 schools in east London, is Ilford County High School, with an average grade of B and 37.5 per cent of students getting AAB.

In Waltham Forest, the best sixth form appeared to be Walthamstow's Forest School, where 17.1 per cent of of students achieved the top grades.
