The closure between the Highfield Park roundabout and Whitecroft caused mayhem for drivers travelling into St Albans this morning (Monday January 20) from the London Colney roundabout.
All traffic was diverted through Highfield towards Drakes Drive.
The Renault was taken away on a recovery truck at 8.30am, and minutes later, the road was reopened by police.
All delays have now cleared.
