A Sainsbury’s Local store will be soon closing.

Sainsbury’s Local, in High Street, Wealdstone, is set to close on October 12 after operating for around eight years.

The branch closure is the second closure of a Sainsbury’s store at Wealdstone, as a previous store which was located adjacent to the High Street Sainsbury’s Local shut down in 1986.

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “Our Wealdstone High Street Local will be closing later this year. Customers can continue to shop with us at a number of our nearby supermarkets and convenience stores.”

“We understand it will be an unsettling time for those affected and we’re working to redeploy as many colleagues as possible.”

The nearest Sainsbury’s store to the closing branch is the Sainsbury’s Superstore in Nash Way, Kenton.

While the store closure may cause disruptions to many Wealdstone residents who regularly shop at the Sainsbury’s Local, Lidl have submitted an application to open at the premises of Homebase, in High Street, Wealdstone, which is set to close later this year.
