Fundraising from a primary school’s rotary club has been tripled by a foundation set under Bill Gates.

A children’s club in Stanburn Primary School, Stanmore, has raised more than £2,673 for Polio vaccinations after a foundation by Bill Gates offered to triple the initial money raised.

The primary school’s RotaKids club, a Rotary International initiative where children aged between seven and twelve form impactful ‘mini’ rotary clubs, initially raised £891 for Polio sufferers in a non-school uniform day.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have promised to triple the school’s £891, providing Polio vaccinations to nearly 10,692 children.

Caroline Lansdowne, the headteacher of Stanburn Primary School, said: “We are extremely proud of our students’ achievements and hard work. We look forward to further developing our partnerships with Rotary and the local community.”

Children in the RotaKids club meet once a week at lunchtime under the guidance of teacher Mrs Roshni Thakar and a Rotarian, Mr Pankaj Chahwala. The group works together to formulate plans to help the world, local community and their own school.

The group have also previously volunteered with a non-profit organisation, Refuge Coffee, which helps people in need of refuge, and a senior’s group at Stanmore Baptist Church.

Northwick Park Rotary Club sponsors the primary school’s RotaKids club and encourages their projects.
