Police have made a fourth arrest following a fatal shooting in Leyton.

Emergency services were called to the Phoenix Club in Lea Bridge Road after receiving reports of gunshots at around 3am on Sunday (July 7). A 27-year-old man from Stratford died at the scene.

Three men were later arrested.

Now, police have confirmed there was a fourth arrest. A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday. He has since been bailed to return in August.

Officers at the scene of the shooting found the 27-year-old victim suffering a gunshot injury. Despite the efforts of officers and the London Ambulance Service, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination took place at Walthamstow Public Mortuary on Tuesday and it gave the cause of death as a single gunshot. He has not been formally identified.

Earlier this week, police confirmed two men, aged 26 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of murder. The 26-year-old was released under investigation and the 21-year-old man was released with no further action.

A 33-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of murder at Heathrow Airport on Sunday. He has been bailed to return to a police station in August.

The Homicide and Major Crime Command is leading the investigation.
