revealed there were 1.7 million of lost customer hours due to delayed trains, which equated to 29,158,571 of lost hourly wages for passengers.

The data also revealed that the Northern Line saw 105 station closures throughout 2018, the most of any tube line.

It was also responsible for nine per cent of all delayed trains throughout 2018.

The figures come as the Northern Line comes to the end of its fourth consecutive day of severe delays following a signal failure. It has hampered journeys between Camden Town and Morden via Bank and is causing disruption on the line.

It is still unknown when the Northern Line is expected to resume normal service.

Transport for London (TFL) director of customer service, Brian Woodhead, said: “I am extremely sorry for the disruption that Northern line customers are experiencing this morning and for the disruption to their journeys yesterday.

“This has been caused by an issue with the signalling system in the Kennington area.

“Our engineers are working hard to fix the problem and get services back to normal as soon as possible.”
