Police have cordoned off a Co-op this morning after it was targeted overnight.

There was a scene of destruction outside the store in Leavesden, and the alarms were still ringing at 9am.

The cash machine has been ripped out and the front doors of the store have been smashed. Next door Studio Kitchen has also been damaged.

Hertfordshire Constabulary has confirmed it was called at 2.13am to reports of a burglary at the shop in Cunningham Way.

A cordon is in place across the car park and one bollard has been completely destroyed.

It is the second time this year the store, which is currently shut, has been targeted.

In January, ram-raiders forced their way into the Co-op using a vehicle, before stealing cigarettes.
