Abbots Langley’s Shannon Courtenay will gear up for her third professional fight after being announced as one of the undercards to Conor Benn’s bout with Jussi Koivula.

The fight is part of Matchroom Boxing’s new show to be held at York Hall in Bethnal Green on Friday, June 21, which will be shown live on Sky Sports.

This will be bantamweight Courtenay’s (2-0) first six-round contest after securing wins against Cristina Busuioc at the Copper Box Arena and Roz Silyanova at The O2 in her previous fights, having been awarded her professional license in January following her step up from the amateur ranks.

She won the second of her pro fights on a referee’s score of 40-36 in another Matchroom show that was headlined by David Allen’s heavyweight bout against Lucas Browne.

The 25-year-old’s rise to the top has been well-documented after her debut against Busuioc in March, in which she hailed the “crazy support” she received, which will no doubt be bigger going into this one, and whoever she is pitted against will have a tough time preventing Courtenay from adding to her impressive early record.

Also on the undercard is South Oxhey’s Reece Bellotti (13-2, 11 KOs) as he enters the ring for the first time since his British title loss to Ryan Walsh as part of the Dillian Whyte v Derek Chisora 2 undercard in December.

The former Commonwealth Super-Featherweight champion hasn’t tasted success since beating Brayan Mairena at the Copper Box Arena in October 2018.

Bellotti was stopped in five rounds by Ryan Doyle prior to that win, which lost him his Commonwealth title and put an end to an impressive 12-fight win streak.

After the Mairena bout, Bellotti said he wanted “more titles” and “I love fighting so I had to come back”, but after the unsuccessful December return, he will be hoping to stop an inconsistent period and regain the momentum he had last year.
