An election candidate was out in Watford canvassing for votes at the weekend.

Labour campaigners were out in force, including Member of European Parliament Alex Mayer who is hoping to retain her seat at the European Parliament elections.

set to be held on Thursday 23 May.

David Lidington MP confirmed yesterday that the UK will take part in the elections because no Brexit deal has been agreed.

Ms Mayer was joined by fellow candidates Chris Vince and Adam Scott as well as Watford Labour's parliamentary candidate Chris Ostrowski.

Ms Mayer is one of seven Labour candidates hoping to be elected as MEP.

She is a member of the European Parliament for the East of England, Amnesty International, Labour Animal Welfare Society and has spearheaded many campaigns.
