The Mayor of Harrow has supported a novelty prison-style fundraiser for a mental health charity.

Mind in Harrow hosted a “Jail and Bail” event at Pinner Police Station yesterday (April 26) to raise vital funds with help from community representatives.

Participants were “arrested”, given overalls, put in cells and tasked to raise £1,000 in bail money to gain their release.

Harrow Times:

Fundraisers on the day included Mark Gillham, Mind in Harrow chief executive officer, Navin Shah, assembly member for Brent and Harrow, Mind trustee Neema Kajal Jagatia, Roxbourne Ward Councillor Maxine Henson, Unleash the Wolf Within founder Harri Dhokia and Nishma Gohil of the same group.

The full total of monies raised is still being calculated.

Mr Gillham said: “We are delighted to introduce our new Jail and Bail event. I was really looking forward to the unique experience of seeing what it is like to be ’arrested’ and locked up all in aid of raising money and awareness for better mental health in Harrow.

“We are tremendously grateful to the participants who signed up and to Hatch End and Pinner Police for hosting the event.”

The event concluded with a certificate presentation by the Mayor of Harrow.
