SUBWAY has rustled up a new vegan option for meat and dairy sceptics.

Following “huge customer demand” and successful trials, the fast-food chain launched a new plant-based six-inch sandwich and a vegan salad in chains across the country.

And Brighton customers have responded well to the new filling options in North Street.

Jen Denver, 32, from Brighton, said: “This is an absolute game changer.

“I have been trying to go vegan and Subway have been one of those places where I’ve struggled to avoid, which has led me to crack a little.

“But holy moly they now have a vegan option, I mean yes.

Trend

“To be honest it’s about time they clocked on to the vegan trend, lots of large businesses are now.”

The new patty in the vegan subway delight is made from red pepper, spicy chilli, garlic and red onion.

Subway has even come up with a new vegan garlic aioli, a creamy garlic sauce, to go with the all-plant sandwich and the new salad.

Tom Still, 40, visiting Brighton, said: “I saw there was a vegan option at Subway in Brighton and thought how Brighton is that.

“But I have heard they have introduced the option all over which is great.

“I am not actually vegan myself, but I can imagine in some places it is hard to

find a dairy and meat free option.

“Subway is just everywhere so from now on people won’t have that problem anymore it seems.

“I am definitely going to try one.”

Colin Hughes, country director for Subway UK and Ireland said: “The new vegan sub and salad is an exciting next step in what we’re able to offer on our menu.

“We’re always looking to introduce new, balanced choices so as to continue to cater for everyone, whether that’s offering more choice for ‘meat-free Mondays’ or for those following a flexitarian diet.”

All the vegan products currently available at Subway include: the new vegan six-inch sandwich, the new vegan salad, veggie delite six-inch sandwich, hash browns, six-inch Italian, six-inch hearty Italian, the new vegan garlic aioli sauce, and the BBQ, sweet onion, marinara, hot chilli, yellow

mustard, HP and sweet chilli sauces.
