A grade two listed pub will receive a £500,000 makeover after being closed for more than ten months.

The Seven Balls on Kenton Lane is due to relaunch in June after a joint investment by Heineken-owned Star Pubs & Bars and Harrow community member Sunny Samani that will see the seventeenth century venue transform.

Harrow Council have helped to ensure the building will retain many original features such as beams, panelling and open fires – but a lick of paint, a heated outdoor area and new kitchen for food will give the place a more contemporary feel.

Works begin on March 25.

The pub will offer a range of culinary favourites as well as wraps and paninis and a selection of Indian street food. Ten new jobs will also be available.

Mr Samani, who owns The Coffee Shop in Wembley, will run The Seven with sons Dilan and Reece.

He is investing in a state-of-the-art cellar and also plans to gain Cask Marque accreditation and bring in cask ales from nearby breweries.

He said: “I’ve lived in this part of London all my life and worked in hospitality since leaving school. The Seven is a beautiful old building and a real landmark which is crying out for investment and TLC.

“It’s a piece of the area’s history and it’s been sad to see it boarded up. I’d like to retain The Seven as a traditional pub and make it somewhere the whole community can enjoy again.”

Star Pubs & Bars North London operations director Will Rice added: “We’re delighted that a local person who knows and cares about Harrow is taking over The Seven and working with us to give it a new lease of life.

“The investment will preserve all the best traditions of the great British pub but with the added twist of Indian street food on the menu.”
