The success of a 13-year-old fighter from Watford has continued into 2019 after winning the English and British K1 and Muay Thai titles.
Ellie Harber, of Lions Watford, won the World Fightsports & Martial Arts Council K1 under 45kg British International Open Title against Kayla Garvey on February 9 in Birmingham, and she followed this up the week after by becoming the new Muay Thai English Title Champion (under 47kg).
The fight against Garvey went over two rounds, with Harber taking the title via TKO as Garvey’s corner took the decision to stop the fight when Harber’s style became too much for her opponent.
The week after, she claimed a silver medal in her first discipline, K1, before following that up with a strong fight against a girl from Birmingham to secure her second title of the week.
Harber was supported at the event by two of her coaches, Colin and Sally Lewis, the owners of Lions gym, with Colin saying on their fighter’s success: “She did amazingly; always on the front foot and looking for ways to attack.”
Harber remains on a six-day-a-week training programme to ensure that she can maintain her success in both disciplines.
