West Herts men recorded a comprehensive 5-0 win over Chelmsford, which keeps alive their hopes of a top four finish in East Premier A.

Tom Martin, Adam Johnson, Jeremy Lowen and Aaron Mitchell struck in a first period that the Stags dominated in all departments.

That domination continued into the second half, but they only added an additional goal to show for it as Steve George rounded off the scoring.

The side travel to bottom of the table Saffron Walden this Saturday as they aim to add a further three points to their tally as well as add a healthy bonus to their goal difference.

The mens’ Second XI were not in action, but the Third XI were on the road as they picked up a point in a 4-4 draw against bottom side Letchworth.

The result keeps the Stags out of the relegation zone but wins throughout their final four games will be vitally important due to their inferior goal difference.

The mens’ Fourth XI did not have the same problems, though, as they recorded a huge 10-0 win over Berkhamsted.

Hayden Langford led the scoring with a hat-trick, Jack Bowsher and Jason Mallory each hit a brace while there were single goals for Chris Currie, Gary Garside and Vijay Patel.

With results elsewhere going their way, the side sit eight points clear of third place with four games to play.

The mens’ Fifth XI went down to a single goal at table-toppers Southgate, which sees them slip to fourth place, while the Sixth XI emulated the success of the Fourths as they thrashed Stevenage Fifths by 10 goals through an Andy Tye hat-trick, braces from Colin Francis and Andy Marriot and single goals for Richard Hopwood, Jason Tisdall and Rafi Herman.

Meanwhile, the ladies team slipped into the danger zone in the Premier Division after a 5-0 loss to leader Bromley & Beckenham and finally, the ladies’ Fourth XI lost 2-1 away at Broxbourne, with Sam Rothwell getting the goal.
