Harrow Council is to scrap child burial fees as it seeks to provide some “small support at a time of great suffering”.
It previously cost £860 in cemetery fees for child burials, with memorials priced at more than £300.
Cllr Adam Swersky, responsible for finance at Harrow Council, said: “The death of a child is one of the most traumatic events a family can face.
“There’s nothing we can do to take away their pain, but we can take away the additional burden they face at this most difficult of times by removing the charge on children’s funerals and burials.”
The new measures, which were part of the current administration’s most recent manifesto, will apply from April 1.
