Drivers face delays to their journeys for more than two weeks due to the installation of new traffic lights.
There are lane closures on the A41 near Hunton Bridge but more frustratingly for motorists, a popular right turn has been banned while the work is ongoing.
People travelling down the A41 from Kings Langley towards the junction of Langleybury Lane can no longer turn right into Langleybury Lane and can only continue further along the A41.
CCTV cameras are reportedly in operation to stop people doing a U-turn on the A41.
While cars travelling from Watford towards Hemel Hempstead cannot turn right into Bridge Road towards Hunton Bridge, because Bridge Road is closed.
Drivers should use Old Mill Road or go via Kings Langley station to avoid the Bridge Road closure.
At the moment, there are no traffic lights on the A41 at Bridge Road so traffic can run freely but there were delays on roads into Watford this morning on the A41, Hempstead Road, and Langley Road.
Work is scheduled to finish on February 1.
