Police, fire fighters and forensic investigators are at the scene of a fatal flat fire.
Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a flat on Wood Street in Walthamstow this morning.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus brought a man out of a second floor flat.
Sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Part of the four-roomed, third-storey flat was destroyed in the fire.
The Brigade was called at 7.16am and the incident was over an hour later.
Fire crews from Walthamstow, Leyton and Leytonstone fire stations were at the scene.
At around 12.15pm the man's covered body was taken away from Wood Street by funeral directors.
His departure was followed by a specially trained fire dog and foresnic investigators entering the flat.
A large pile of charred rubbish could be seen on the flat's balcony.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
