An ATM will be reinstalled at a supermarket following an attempted smash and grab.

After a red Manitou digger stolen from a nearby farm was crashed into the front of the Tesco store in Theydon Bois on October 28, it remained there for almost two weeks.

When the digger was removed it revealed the cash machine, which the would-be robbers had failed to take.

Before work continues at the Coppice Row shop Tesco chairman John Allan has said Tesco architects will design permanent repair plans and update the ATM's housing to make it more secure.

The free shuttle bus service for customers to travel from the Epping High Street Tesco will continue to run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the next two weeks.

The bus leaves the bus stop opposite the Queen Victoria pub at 10am and returns from the Epping store at noon.

Dame Eleanor Laing, MP for Epping Forest and a Theydon Bois resident, said: "I am pleased Tesco have been so positive in their response to this dreadful situation which has been so difficult for everyone.

"I contacted the chairman of Tesco just after the crime was committed and it is good that he is taking into consideration the needs of the whole community in such a positive way."
