A woman has died after the car she was driving crashed into a tree.
The 26-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash which happened on the A10 in Enfield, between Bullsmoor Lane and Turkey Street.
The collision happened just before midnight.
At 1.30am, the Met police announced that a woman had died.
The police have confirmed that next of kin have been informed.
The A10 was closed for hours and reopened shortly after 8am.
There were severe delays on the roads due to the closure especially for those travelling south from Cheshunt and Waltham Cross.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses. Police say two cars were travelling at "excess speed" at the time of the incident.
Police are keen for anyone who may have seen the incident or the circumstances leading up to the collision to come forward.
