One hundred large poppies appeared in public places to commemorate a century since the end of the First World War.

Rangers from Croxley Green Parish Council set about installing the symbols throughout the village as a mark of respect to the nearly 100 souls from the area who fought and died in World War One.

The poppies were placed along main residential roads including The Green, New Road, Dickinson's Square and Avenue and Yorke Road on October 14.

A Remembrance Day parade will take place at 1.50pm on November 11 starting from the village library and then on to All Saints Church for a service. Wreaths will be laid at the War Memorial on The Green at 3.20pm.

Croxley Green Parish Council chairman, Cllr Mark Saxon, said: "Our Croxley Green Parish Council Rangers have today installed 100 poppies around Croxley Green to mark the 100 years since the end of World War One.

“As many as 94 people from Croxley Green lost their lives during the Great War and this represents a fitting and respectful commemoration to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice."
