A man has been arrested after reports a dog was thrown from a balcony.

Police were called just around 6.30pm on Monday to Binyon Crescent in Stanmore where they arrested a man on suspicion of animal cruelty.

A dog was reportedly seen being thrown from a first floor balcony. Upon arrival police discovered a dog ‘distraught and shaking’ in a nearby garden.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

He was taken to a north London police station where he was further arrested for handling stolen goods.

He was later released pending further enquiries.
