Unexploded World War I bombs have been discovered.
Police were called to Stanmore Hill at 1.04pm yesterday with reports wartime explosives had been discovered at the junction with Wood Lane.
Officers who attended found three suspected First World War shells weighing 18lb each and a firearm, believed to be a Luger.
All items were discovered at the edge of a lake that had recently receded.
Nearby roads were closed and a small number of homes were evacuated as a precaution.
The ordnance was removed by specialists and all roads were eventually reopened.
