A schoolgirl has cut off 15 inches of her own har to raise money for a charity who provide real hair wigs to children receiving cancer treatments.

Freya Thorpe was praised by her teachers at Haydon School in Pinner when she started a JustGiving page with hopes of raising £1,000 for the Little Princess Trust charity.

The Little Princess Trust arrange for real hair replacements for children and young people who have lost their hair due to cancer therapies and other illnesses.

Freya’s teachers said they were proud of her “bravery and generosity” and support her efforts to raise money for the charity.

Harrow Times:

Freya said: “My friend had her hair cut off and donated it to charity and since I had lots of hair I was inspired to do the same.

“I planned to have 12 inches cut off but kept going off the idea as I had had long hair for my whole life and only ever had about five haircuts.

“Eventually, I took the plunge and set up a Just Giving page so that I could raise money for The Little Princess Trust as well as donating my hair.

“I got everyone that I know to sponsor me, and I have raised £775 from my original £100 target.

“On the day of the haircut, I really went for it and decided to have 15 inches cut off and sent to the Trust. I hope I can inspire you to do what you can to help others in need.”
