A 24-year-old is in a critical condition after she was robbed by two men on a moped.
The woman, 24, fought with thieves after the pillion passenger tried to snatch her bag and mobile phone in Holyrood Gardens in Edgware.
She was then punched and injured her head.
The incident took place at 9.10pm yesterday (Monday) and the woman was taken to hospital.
She remains in a critical condition.
The thieves made off on the moped in the direction of Stag Lane.
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Sergeant Richard Lewsley said: "This was a horrific attack, the victim had her bag on her shoulder when the males approached her.
“She resisted for some time until the pillion passenger punched her, causing her to fall backwards.
"She is currently in a critical condition and we need to catch these males before they strike again."
