Two brothers who car-jacked elderly women after pushing them to the ground and making off with their cars have been jailed.

Shaun Moorhouse, 32, and his brother William Moorhouse, 30, both of no fixed abode, were sentenced at Harrow Crown Court on Tuesday, May 15.

During the attacks, a number of victims, mostly women, aged between 65 and 88 were pushed to the floor and had handbags or their cars stolen.

A silver Vauxhall Astra, a black Audi A3 and a grey Volkswagen Golf were used by the brothers.

They were all stolen from their victims over the eight day period, between January 19 to 28.

Following the burglary of a 77-year-old man’s address in Balmoral Road, William Moorhouse was arrested on January 28.

The following day Shaun Moorhouse was arrested by police officers in Oldfield Road in Brent.

Both brothers pleaded guilty to 15 offences, William also pleaded guilty to two burglary offences.

The brothers were sentenced to 14 years.

Detective Sergeant Richard Lewsley said: “I would like to thank all of those witnesses, victims and CCTV providers whose evidence collectively has been instrumental in bringing these offenders to justice.

“Many of these cases saw members of the public rush to the aid of, and provide support, to victims of crime.

“This sentence sends out a clear message to those engaged in crime that despite attempts to evade police, all efforts will be taken to bring offenders to justice.”
