A man is to take on the London marathon this week in honour of his "remarkable grandfather".
Adam Waters will hit the capital's streets in memory of Dennis Temple, who was a pilot for the Royal Air Force in the Second World War. He died five years ago at the age of 89.
The 28-year-old from Borehamwood will be running alongside his brother-in-law, Andrew Cohen, 31, from Edgware.
They will be taking on the marathon in aid of Jewish charity Norwood, after Dennis grew up at an orphanage in West Norwood.

Mr Waters said: “Dennis made great friends there, and got up to many hijinks.
"He once snuck out of the orphanage to go to the pictures and see a film he had particularly wanted to see. When he arrived back later that day - very relieved he hadn't been caught - the orphanage announced they were taking the boys on an outing for a special treat to the pictures to see the exact film he had just watched!”
He added: “He went on to serve in the RAF during WWII, was a strong Zionist and almost signed up to go to Israel and fight in 1948 - until he met my grandma.
“Afterwards he went on a secret, dangerous trip to the Soviet Union to bring Jewish books and food to Refuseniks. He sadly passed away 5 years ago at the age of 89. He is survived by his wife Rita, two daughters, seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.”
It will be Mr Waters' first marathon.

A total of 20 more runners will be running the marathon for Norwood, including Jonathan Warren. The 37-year-old will be running in support of his 42-year-old sister-in-law, Sonia Piatkus, who has cerebral palsy, and has lived at Norwood's Ravenswood home in Golders Green since she was nine-years-old.
Joshua Schwartz will be running in memory of his brother-in-law Marc Lebe, who died last year.

Norwood is the largest Jewish charity in the UK supporting vulnerable children and their families, children with special educational needs and people with learning disabilities and autism.
