A MAN who produced cannabis asked a sheriff to send him to prison - after he was handed a supervision order.
Jason Cairns, 42, appeared in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing.
He accepted that he did produce Class B Cannabis at his home address in Elibank Street, Ruchazie on November 9, 2016.
The court heard that a total of 15 plants were discovered but the Procurator Fiscal depute was unable to provide an estimated value for the find.
Cairns' defence agent also told the court that he had produced the plants for personal use.
He added: "Mr Cairns has taken full responsibility for his actions."
Sentencing sheriff Gerard Bonnar placed Cairns under supervision for 18 months but the East End man did not accept the order.
Instead he asked his defence agent to request a prison sentence. His defence agent told the court: "He sees benefit with a period in custody."
Cairns will spend three months in prison which was reduced from four months because of his early plea.
