A DRUNK man subjected police to a sectarian rant after his house party was shut down.

Police were called to the home of John Thomson on Strowan Street in Govan, following reports on an ongoing party.

Upon attending the address on May 28, they could hear loud music coming from within the property.

Thomson, who was inside his home, became aggressive towards officers after they turned up shouting comments including “get yourself to f***.”

Due to his aggressive behaviour, the 32-year-old was placed within a police car to be taken into custody when he went off on an abusive sectarian rant stating “you’re a f*****g rat, this is your last day working for the Queen.”

While driving past Celtic Park, he shouted: “There’s paradise, f*** the English”, “get the Brits out”, “I’m Catholic, f*** the UDA.”

Thomson appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to playing music at an excessive volume, shouting, swearing and making racial and sectarian remarks in an aggravated manner.

The court heard how Thomson had been drinking at the time of the offence and that he acknowledges that his behaviour was “unacceptable”.

Sheriff Gerard Bonnar ordered Thomson to undergo 135 hours of unpaid work within a period of 12 months.
