THREE men who got involved in a fight outside a nightclub have been told to do unpaid work in the community.

Ciaran Dennis Clifford, 22, Craig Graham, 20 and Blair Dawson, 19 all appeared in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to the assault.

The group admitted that they were part of an attack on another man which took place at Kirkintilloch’s High Street on March 5, last year.

The charge started that the man was grabbed by the body and knocked to the ground.

Graham and Dawson admitted that they repeatedly kicked his head and body. The pair also admitted that they did stamp on his head and body to his injury.

Clifford plead guilty to an amended charge of kicking the man on his body to his injury.

The court heard that a fourth man was also involved in the attack and is expected to appear at court on a later date for sentencing.

The Procurator Fiscal depute told the court that the group had been within Club Bliss in Kirkintilloch’s High Street.

The victim was asked to leave the club at around 2am with his friends after a dispute with a member of the group that the men in the dock were part of.

The groups left through separate entrances and congregated in groups in waste ground nearby.

At this moment, a police officer was monitoring CCTV in the area and he watched the attack unfold.

The court heard that the men waded in after punches were thrown and the man had fell to the ground.

The Procurator Fiscal depute told the court that victim was rolled up in the foetal position during the attack and did not fight back.

The court also heard that the assault lasted a few seconds.

Eventually people in the area stood between the victim and the accused men to stop further assault.

The police officer watching alerted cops to attend the scene and they caught with the men and told them not to move. But the group ran off before the police caught up with them again and arrested them.

The victim was taken to Glasgow’s Royal Infirmary where he was treated for minor cuts and bruising, and swelling to the head and torso.

Clifford’s defence agent told the court that his client was in fact headbutted by the victim when he was leaving the nightclub.

He added that the first time offender, of Lochiel Drive, Milton of Campsie, had expressed shame over his conduct.

Graham’s defence agent said that his client essentially waded in after an altercation had happened.

He added that Graham, of Mill Crescent, Torrance, did not seek to minimise what had happened and his family were extremely unimpressed.

Dawson’s defence agent said his client had no memory of the incident due to the level of alcohol consumed.

Dawson, of Hawthrone Street, Torrance, deeply regretted his involvement.

Sentencing sheriff Allan Findlay watched the CCTV in court and told the three men in the dock that they were all equally involved in the offence.

They were all ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work in the community within six months.
