HARROW COLLEGE'S communication support unit, has been recognised as a "Regional Centre of Excellence for the Hearing Impaired."

To celebrate this special award the College will be having the first Deaf Event 2007 open day, at The Harrow Weald campus from 11.00am - 1.00pm on Tuesday June 12.

Everyone is welcome and people will have the opportunity to take part in a live sign language class, explore the facilities, meet staff and students and learn about their success stories, as well as have a chance to see technologies and literature available for the deaf community. There will also be refreshments and light buffet served throughout the event.

The Harrow College Centre of Excellence is the only one in North West London that can provide support for students, including sign language, note taking and lip speaking across the region. The Unit also offers one to one teaching support, as well as access to a range of facilities to support student learning.

In addition, the Communication Support Unit runs a variety of courses for those interested in British Sign Language (BSL).
