Shopkeepers with big ideas for their small businesses have until the end of this week to enter a competition that could take them to Westminster.

Traders in Harrow must submit their application to the All Party Parliamentary best small shops competition before the end of January.

Applications should set out, in no more than 500 words, why they are the best small shop, including details about innovation, community engagement and entrepreneurial activity.

All shortlisted candidates will be invited to a parliamentary reception on February 25 where the winner will be announced.

Harrow East MP Bob Blackman said: “This is a great opportunity for small shops in to get recognition for the brilliant work they do supporting the community and creating jobs all year round.

“We have some absolutely excellent shops who could definitely take the crown in my opinion, so I am definitely hoping to see some local names on the shortlist next month.”
