Stories about protests, shisha bars and court cases were just some of the most read stories on the Harrow Times website in 2014.

The most read story for January was tragic death of a mother and her two young children in an apparent murder suicide.

The family were found by the husband at their home in Woodgrange Close, Kenton, after he had finished work, with the story online being viewed a total of 5,627 times during the month.

In February a protest from the Somali community against the adoption of a child by a lesbian couple was the most read.

The story actually broke at the end of January, and views from both months mean the story was read more than 5,000 times in total.

In March the story most read on the Harrow Times was Harrow Borough Council enforcement action tearing down an illegal shisha bar in Wealdstone.

The structure was taken apart in just under an hour and it story was viewed more than 1,750 times during the month.

The most read story in April was the sentencing of a man who attempted to murder his neighbour with a claw hammer.

Kantilal Varsani, 46 of Malvern Gardens, Harrow, was sentenced in April to 15 years in prison for the attack which left the victim blind in one eye.

The story was read on the Harrow Times 8,207 times in April.

In May the London local elections got the most hits with people glued to their computer screens following the Harrow Times live blog of the count, which was viewed 4,623 times.

The story of Labour taking back control of Harrow Council was the second most read, with more than 3,000 page views.

The suspension of a headteacher and an investigation at Whitchurch First School & Nursery was the most read story in June.

During the month the story was viewed 3,979 times following the announcement of the investigation into the management and financial practices at the school.

In July, the jailing of a man for an “exceptionally violent" attack which left a man with a fractured skull was the most read with more than 2,000 views.

Ajeell Chiyamalendran, 21, of Larkfield Avenue, Harrow, was sentenced to six years in prison after attacking his victim with a glass bottle and a saucepan.

The story of a man who had been slashed across the face and shop staff who helped him was the most read story in August.

A total of 2,150 people read the story that month about a man in his 20s who was injured in The Broadway, in Stanmore, and was helped by staff in nearby shops.

The report of a man hit by a train at Pinner Underground Station was the most read story in September, with 3,559 views for the month.

In October the story of a woman hit by a bus as she walked on the pavement in Station Road, Harrow town Centre, was the most read with 2,684 views on the story.

Two teenagers stabbed by muggers as they walked along High Mead, Harrow, was the most read story in November.

Both were taken to hospital and treated for their wounds, with the story getting 3,155 views during the month.

Finally in December the most read story so far has been about the tributes paid by classmates to a 14-year-old boy who died after playing football at school.

Sugenth Jeyakumar died in hospital after being injured at school and friends and pupils of Whitmore High School, in Porlock Avenue, paid tribute to him on social media.
