A girl was hit by a car while she walked to school in the first week of term.

Dinky Bakhai was hit as she was crossing Locket Road on her way to Belmont Middle School, and was taken to hospital with bruising to her head.

The council said it would look into if there were any other road safety measures required around the school.

September was also the month when a business owner claimed he was being hounded by Harrow Borough Council for a parking fine issued to his vehicle’s former owner.

Zakaria Alhaad of A to Z Car Hire Ltd had his car taken away by bailiffs and as part of a long running battle with the council over the fine, which was issued in 2012 before he owned the car.

Parking campaigner Derek Dishman, also known as Mr Mustard, said the council had made a mistake and was trying to front it out and hoping it will go away.

The council said the issue had been ongoing for some time and had asked the owner on several occasions for proof the vehicle’s ownership had been changed.

Neighbours living near the site of garages demolished by the council felt they had been forgotten about as their homes were overrun by rats.

Harrow council pulled down pulled down 90 garages in Augustine Road, Hatch End, in April which had become a target for anti-social behaviour.

But the site remained empty and several homes that back on to the land had been infested with rats.

The council said environmental health team and pest control visited the area regularly and they would ensure National Rail’s pest control team would inspect and treat the railway land adjacent to Augustine Road.
