Members of a club that supports deaf people in Harrow enjoyed a drumming workshop at their Christmas party.

Harrow United Deaf Club (HUDC) held the annual event at the Bridge Centre, in Christchurch Avenue, Harrow.

Members of the club were taught how to play African drums using the vibrations from the different instruments by Sam Gardner, a music teacher of Harrow Arts Centre.

They were also joined by Conservative parliamentary candidate for Harrow West Hannah David, who introduced herself with British Sign Language.

Younger members of the club enjoyed face painting as well as other arts and crafts.

Club president Asif Iqbal said: “It was a good turnout, everyone got together in a festive community spirit.

“Many people said how much they enjoyed the whole event including socialising, children activities, face painting and learning about drumming.

“I also wanted to say thanks to Harrow Art Centre’s Music Services for donating the drumming session with Sam for our Christmas event.

“This is our last event of the year and amazing how much we have achieved in the last 12 months - special thanks should go to all of our speakers and committee members who worked hard to make all of our events in 2014 a great success.”
