Members of a deaf club joined together for an early Halloween party and to hear more about the British Sign Language Charter.

Harrow United Deaf Club, (HUDC) met at The Bridge Centre, in Harrow, for its annual Halloween party and heard from guest speaker Graham Welton of British Deaf Association (BDA).

The club learnt about the association's BSL Charter which has five key pledges for local authorities, health and police services to follow.

They include the promotion of better access to public services and to help public agencies for deaf people, and to promote equal opportunities.

HUDC has recently been encouraging on Harrow Borough Council to sign up to the charter.

Club president Asif Iqbal said: “In the last five years, we have been working with our partners, raising awareness on the needs of deaf people in accessing to services and inviting councillors, MPs and partner organisations to visit HUDC and gain our experiences at first hand.”
